“If someone touches anything unclean, whether it is a corpse of a wild animal or a herd animal or one of the small creatures that inhabit the earth, even if he is not aware of it, he will become unclean and will be guilty.

“If anyone touches human impurity, anything that makes him unclean, without being aware of it, when he knows it, he will be guilty.

“If anyone thoughtlessly swears to do anything good or bad, in any matter anyone can carelessly swear, even if he is not aware of it, when he knows it, he will be guilty.

“When anyone is guilty of any of these things, he will confess that he has sinned

and for the sin he has committed, he will bring to the Lord a sheep or a goat from the flock as an offering of reparation; and on his behalf the priest will make atonement for sin.

“If he does not have the resources to offer a sheep, he will bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the Lord for the sin of his sin: one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering.

He will bring them to the priest, who will first offer whatever is offered as a sacrifice for sin. And he will detach the bird's neck, without completely taking off its head,

and he shall sprinkle the blood of the sin offering on the side of the altar, and let the rest of the blood flow at the base of the altar. It is an offering for sin.

The priest will then offer the other bird as a burnt offering in accordance with the prescribed manner, and will make atonement for him for the sin he has committed, and he will be forgiven.

“But if he cannot afford to offer two turtledoves or two young pigeons, he shall bring a jar of fine flour as a sin offering as a sin offering. But he shall not pour oil on it or put incense on it, because it is a sin offering.

He will bring it to the priest, who will take a handful of it as a memorial portion and burn it on the altar, on top of the offerings dedicated to the Lord, prepared by fire. It is a sin offering.

So the priest will make propitiation on his behalf for any of these sins he has committed, and he will be forgiven. The remainder of the offering belongs to the priest, as in the case of a grain offering.”

 The Lord said to Moses:

"When someone commit an offense, who sins unintentionally in anything consecrated to the Lord, shall bring to the Lord a ram from the flock, without blemish, valued in silver according to the standard weight of the sanctuary, as a guilt offering.

He will make restitution for what he failed to do in relation to the consecrated things, add a fifth of the value and hand it over to the priest. He will make atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and he will be forgiven.

“If anyone sins by doing what is prohibited in any of the Lord's commandments, even if he does not know it, he will be guilty and will suffer the consequences of his iniquity.

From the flock he will bring to the priest a ram, without blemish and properly evaluated, as a guilt offering. Thus the priest will make propitiation on his behalf for the error he committed unintentionally, and he will be forgiven.

It is a guilt offering, for he has certainly become guilty before the Lord.”
