Deuteronomy 3 – Verses from Deuteronomy 3 from the book of Deuteronomy in the Bible.

Then we turned and went up to Bashan, and Og, king of Bashan, attacked us with his entire army at Edrei.

The Lord said to me, “Do not be afraid of him, for I have given him into his hands, with all his army, and I have given him his land as well. You will do to him as you did to Sihon, king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon.”

Then the Lord our God also delivered Og king of Bashan and all his army into our hands. We defeated them, leaving no survivors.

At that time we conquered all their cities. There were no cities that we did not take. There were sixty cities throughout the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og, in Bashan.

All these cities were fortified with high walls and doors and locks. Besides them there were many cities without walls.

We completely destroyed them, just as we had done to Sihon, king of Heshbon, destroying all the cities, also killing the men, women and children.

But all the animals and the spoils of the cities we took as spoils of war.

So it was that, on that occasion, we took from these two Amorite kings the territory east of the Jordan, which runs from the Arnon Brook to Mount Hermon.

(The Sidonians call Hermon Sirion; and the Amorites call him Senir.)

We conquered all the cities of the plateau, and all of Gilead, and also all of Bashan, as far as Salcah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og, in Bashan.

Og, king of Bashan, was the only survivor of the Rephaim. His bed was made of iron and was, by common measure, four meters long and six feet wide. She is still in Rabbah of the Ammonites.

I gave the land which we took possession of at that time, from Aroer by the River Arnon to more than half of the mountains of Gilead with its cities, to the tribes of Reuben and Gad.

I gave the rest of Gilead and all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, to half the tribe of Manasseh. (The entire region of Argob in Bashan was known in ancient times as the land of the Rephaim.

Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, conquered the entire region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites; this region was named after him, so that even today Bashan is called Povoados de Jair. )

And I gave Gilead to Machir.

To the tribes of Reuben and Gad I gave the region from Gilead to the Arnon River (the border ran right through the middle of the valley) and to the Jabbok Valley, on the border of the Ammonites.

I also gave him the Arabah, with the Jordan as its western border, from Chinereth to the Sea of Arabah, which is the Salt Sea, below the slopes of Pisgah.

At that time I commanded them the following: The Lord, your God, has given you this land to take possession of it. All warriors must march ahead of their Israelite brothers, armed for war!

Leave in the cities that I have given you the women, the children and the large flocks, which I know you have,

until the Lord gives rest to your fellow Israelites as he gave you, and they take possession of the land that the Lord your God is giving them on the other side of the Jordan. Then you can return, each one to the property I gave you.

At that time I also commanded Joshua: “You have seen with your own eyes everything that the Lord, your God, did to these two kings. This is what the Lord will do with all the kingdoms through which you will have to pass.

Don't be afraid of them. The Lord, your God, will fight for you.”

At that time I begged the Lord:

“O Sovereign Lord, you have begun to show your servant your greatness and your mighty hand! What God is there in heaven or on earth who can perform your works and your mighty deeds?

Let me cross over, I beg you, and see the good land on the other side of the Jordan, the beautiful hill country, and Lebanon! “

However, because of you, the Lord was angry with me and would not listen to me. “Enough,” he said. “Don’t tell me any more about it.

Climb to the highest point of Pisgah and look West, North, South, and East. See the land with your own eyes, for you will not cross the Jordan.

Therefore command Joshua, strengthen him, and encourage him; for he will be the one who will cross over in front of these people, and will divide for their inheritance the land that you will only see.”

So we camped in the valley opposite Beth-peor.
