When a man makes a vow to the Lord or an oath that obliges him to some commitment, he cannot break his word, but he will have to fulfill everything he said.

“When a girl who still lives in her father's house makes a vow to the Lord or binds herself by a commitment

If your father knows about the vow or commitment, but says nothing to him, then all the vows and each of the commitments to which he made himself will be valid.

But, if the father forbids it when he finds out about the vow, none of the vows or commitments he has made will be valid; the Lord will deliver her because her father forbade her.

“If she marries after making a vow or after her lips utter a hasty promise by which she obliges herself

and her husband knows it, but says nothing to her on the day he finds out, then her vows or commitments to which she has bound herself will be valid.

But if her husband forbids her when he finds out, he will annul the vow that binds her or the hasty promise by which she bound herself, and the Lord will deliver her.

“Any vow or commitment made by a widow or divorced woman will be valid.

“If a woman who lives with her husband makes a vow or binds herself by oath to a commitment

and her husband knows it, but says nothing to her and does not forbid it, then all the vows or commitments by which she has bound herself will be valid.

But if your husband annuls them when he finds out about them, then none of the vows or commitments that came from his lips will be valid. Her husband nullified them, and the Lord will deliver her.

The husband will be able to confirm or annul any vow or any commitment that obliges her to humiliate herself.

But if her husband says nothing to her about it until the next day, he thereby confirms all his vows or commitments that bind her. He confirms them by saying nothing to him when he heard them.

If, however, he annuls them some time after hearing them, he will suffer the consequences of his iniquity.”

These are the ordinances that the Lord gave to Moses regarding the relationship between a man and his wife, and between a father and his young daughter who still lives in her father's house.
