1 The Lord said to Moses:

2 “Say this to the whole community of Israel: Be holy because I, the Lord, the God of you, I am holy.

3 “Each of you must respect your mother and your father, and keep my Sabbaths. I am the Lord, your God.

4 “Do not turn to idols or make metal gods for yourself. I am the Lord, your God.

5 “When you offer a sacrifice of communion to the Lord, offer it in such a way that it will be accepted on your behalf.

6 It will have to be eaten on the day they offer it, or the next day; whatever remains until the third day will be burned.

7 If anything is eaten on the third day, it will be spoiled and will not be accepted.

8 Whoever eats will suffer the consequences of his iniquity, because he has profaned what is holy to the Lord; he will be cut off from among his people.

9 “When you reap the harvest of your land, do not harvest all the way to the edges of your field, nor gather up the ears of grain that have fallen from your harvest.

10 Do not pass through your vineyard twice, nor pick up any grapes that have fallen. Leave them for those in need and for those abroad. I am the Lord, your God.

11 “Don’t steal. “Don’t lie. “Do not deceive one another.

12 “Do not swear falsely by my name, thereby profaning the name of your God. I am the Lord.

13 “Do not oppress or rob your neighbor. “Do not withhold the payment of a day laborer until the morning of the next day.

14 “Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but fear your God. I am the Lord.

15 “Do not commit injustice in a trial; do not favor the poor, nor seek to please the great, but judge your neighbor fairly.

16 “Do not spread slander among your people. “Do not rise up against your neighbor’s life. I am the Lord.

17 “Do not harbor hatred against your brother in your heart; rather, rebuke your neighbor frankly so that, because of him, you do not suffer the consequences of a sin.

18 “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against any of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

19 “Obey my laws. “Do not cross different species of animals. “Do not plant two types of seeds in your field. “Do not wear clothes made from two types of fabric.

20 “If a man sleeps with a slave promised to another man, but who has not been rescued or given her freedom, the appropriate punishment must be imposed. However, they will not be killed, because she had not been released.

21 But the man will bring to the Lord, at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, a ram as a guilt offering.

22 With the ram of the guilt offering the priest will make atonement for him before the Lord for the sin he has committed; so the sin he committed will be forgiven.

23 “When you enter the land and plant any kind of fruit tree, consider its fruit forbidden. For three years you will consider them prohibited; they won't be able to eat them.

24 In the fourth year all its fruits will be holy; it will be an offering of praise to the Lord.

25 In the fifth year, however, you will be able to eat its fruits. This way your harvest will increase. I am the Lord, your God.

26 “Don’t eat anything with blood. “Do not practice divination or sorcery.

27 “Do not cut the hair on the sides of your head or trim the ends of your beard.

28 “Do not make cuts on your bodies for the sake of the dead, nor tattoo on yourselves. I am the Lord.

29 “No one should dishonor his daughter by making her a prostitute, otherwise the land will give itself over to prostitution and will be filled with wickedness.

30 “Keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary. I am the Lord.”

31 “Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, as you will be contaminated by them. I am the Lord, your God.

32 “Stand up in the presence of the elderly, honor the elders, fear your God. I am the Lord.

33 “When a foreigner lives in your land, do not mistreat him.

34 The resident foreigner who lives with you will be treated as a native of the land. Love him as yourself, for you were strangers in Egypt. I am the Lord, your God.

35 “Do not use dishonest measurements when measuring length, weight or quantity.

36 Use scales with honest weights, both for cereals and liquids. I am the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

37 “Obey all my decrees and all my laws and practice them. I am the Lord.”
