 And it came to pass after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham! And he said: Here I am.

 And he said, Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will tell you about.

 Then Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took with him two of his young men, and Isaac his son; and he cut wood for the burnt offering, and arose, and went to the place of which God had told him.

 On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place from afar.

 And Abraham said to his young men, Stay here with the ass, and I and the young man will go over there; and having worshipped, we will return to you.

 And Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering, and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire and the cleaver in his hand, and they went both together.

 Then Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said: My father! And he said: Here I am, my son! And he said, Behold the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?

 And Abraham said, God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son. So they both walked together.

 And they came to the place of which God had told him, and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar on top of the wood.

 And Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to slaughter his son;

 But the angel of the Lord cried out to him from heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham! And he said: Here I am.

 Then he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, and do nothing to him; for now I know that you fear God, and have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.

 Then Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked; and behold a ram behind him, caught by his horns, in a thicket; And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering instead of his son.

 And Abraham called the name of that place: The Lord will provide; from which it is said to this day: On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.

 Then the angel of the Lord cried out to Abraham a second time from heaven,

 And he said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord: Because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, from me,

 That I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your descendants like the stars of the heavens, and like the sand that is on the seashore; and your descendants will possess the gate of their enemies;

 And in your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed; because you obeyed my voice.

 Then Abraham returned to his young men, and they arose and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt in Beersheba.

 And it came to pass after these things, which they told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah also bare children unto Nahor thy brother.

 Uz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kimuel the father of Aram,

 And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildas, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.

 And Bethuel begot Rebekah. These eight gave birth to Milcah to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

 And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she also gave him Tebá, Gaã, Taás and Maaca.
