Exodus 8 – Verses from Exodus 8 from the book of Exodus in the Bible.

The Lord spoke to Moses: “Go to Pharaoh and tell him that this is what the Lord says: Let my people go so that they may serve me.

If you don't want to let him go, I will send a plague of frogs over your entire territory.

The Nile will be infested with frogs. They will go up and enter your palace, your room, and even your bed; They will also be in the houses of his counselors and his people, inside their ovens and in their kneading troughs.

The frogs will come up on you, your counselors and your people.”

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron to stretch out his hand with his rod over the rivers, over the canals, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up from them into the land of Egypt.”

So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.

But the magicians did the same thing through their occult sciences: they caused frogs to come up in the land of Egypt.

Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron and said: “Pray to the Lord that he will take these frogs away from me and my people; then I will let the people go and offer sacrifices to the Lord.”

Moses said to Pharaoh: “It is your honor to tell me when I should pray for you, for your counselors and for your people so that you and your houses will be free from frogs and only those that are in the river will remain.”

“Tomorrow,” said Pharaoh. Moses replied, “It will be as you say, so that you may know that there is no one like the Lord our God.

The frogs will leave you, your houses, your counselors and your people; only those in the river will be left.”

After Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh's presence, Moses cried out to the Lord because of the frogs he had sent upon Pharaoh.

And the Lord granted Moses' request; The frogs that were in the houses, in the courtyards and in the fields died.

They were gathered in heaps and, as a result, the earth smelled bad.

But when Pharaoh realized that there was relief, he became stubborn in his heart and no longer listened to Moses and Aaron, as the Lord had said.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron to stretch out his rod and strike the dust of the ground, and the dust will turn into lice throughout all the land of Egypt.”

They did so, and when Aaron stretched out his hand and struck the dust of the ground with his rod, lice appeared on men and animals. All the dust in all the land of Egypt turned into lice.

But when the magicians tried to make lice appear through their occult sciences, they failed. And lice infested men and animals.

The wise men said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh's heart remained hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Get up early and present yourself to Pharaoh as he goes to the water. Tell him that this is what the Lord says: Let my people go so that they may worship me.

If you do not let my people go, I will send swarms of flies to attack you, your advisors, your people and your homes. The houses of the Egyptians, as well as the ground on which they walk, will be filled with flies.

“But on that day I will deal differently with the land of Goshen, where my people live; no swarm of flies will be found there, so that you may know that I, the Lord, am in this land.

I will make a distinction between my people and yours. This miraculous sign will happen tomorrow.”

And so the Lord did. Great swarms of flies invaded Pharaoh's palace and the homes of his counselors, and throughout Egypt the land was ruined by flies.

Then Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron and said, “Go and offer sacrifices to your God, but do not leave the country.”

“That would not be wise,” replied Moses; “The sacrifices we offer to our God are a sacrilege for the Egyptians. If we offer sacrifices that seem like sacrilege to them, won't that lead them to stone us?

We will travel three days in the desert, and we will offer sacrifices to the Lord our God, as he commands us. “

Pharaoh said, “I will let you go and offer sacrifices to the Lord your God in the wilderness, but do not go too far away and pray for me too.”

Moses replied, “As soon as I leave your presence, I will pray to the Lord, and tomorrow the swarms of flies will leave Pharaoh, your counselors, and your people. May only Pharaoh not act falsely again, preventing the people from offering sacrifices to the Lord.”

Then Moses went out from Pharaoh and prayed to the Lord,

and the Lord granted his request: the flies left Pharaoh, his advisors and his people; not a single fly was left.

But this time too Pharaoh was stubborn in his heart and did not let the people leave.
