And six days later Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, and led them alone, privately, to a high mountain; and he was transfigured before them;

And his clothes became dazzling, white as snow, such as no fuller on earth could make them white.

And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.
And Peter, speaking, said to Jesus:

Master, it is good that we are here; and let us make three booths, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. For he did not know what he was saying, because they were astonished.

And a cloud came down and overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved son; I listened to him.

And when they looked around, they saw no one else except Jesus with them.

And when they came down from the mountain, he commanded them not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

And they kept the matter between themselves, asking one another what it would be like, to rise from the dead.

And they questioned him, saying, Why do the scribes say that Elijah must first come?

And he answering said unto them, Verily Elijah shall come first, and shall restore all things; and as it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things and be debased.

But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they have done to him whatever they wanted, as it is written about him.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
