Gospel of the Day – Matthew 13:14-23

Adverts

“And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: Hearing you will hear, but you will not understand, and seeing you will see, but you will not understand.

For the heart of this people is hardened,And they have heard grudgingly with their ears,And they have closed their eyes;Lest they see with their eyes,And hear with their ears,and understand with their heart,and be converted,and I will heal them .

But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.

For truly I say to you, many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it; and hear what you hear, and have not heard. Listen, then, to the parable of the sower.

When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and takes away what was sown in his heart; This is what was sown along the path.

He that was sown on rocky ground is he that hears the word, and immediately receives it with joy;

But it has no root in itself, rather it is of short duration; and when anguish and persecution come, because of the word, he is immediately offended;

And he who was sown among thorns is the one who hears the word, but the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful;

But he who was sown on good soil is the one who hears and understands the word; and bears fruit, and one produces an hundred, another sixty, and another thirty

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
