Gospel of the Day – Mark 4:35-41

Adverts

“And on that day, when it was late, he said unto them, Let us pass over to the other side.

And they, leaving the crowd, took him with them, just as he was, in the boat; and there were also other little boats with him.

And a great storm of wind arose, and the waves came up over the boat, so that it was already filling.

Adverts

And he was in the stern, sleeping on a pillow, and they woke him up, saying to him: Master, do you not care that we perish?

And when he awoke, he rebuked the wind, and said to the sea: Be still, be still. And the wind calmed down, and there was a great calm.

And he said unto them, Why are ye so timid? Do you still not have faith?
And they felt great fear, and said to one another: But who is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
