And whoever does not carry his cross, and does not come after me, cannot be my disciple.

For which of you, wanting to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the expenses, to see if he has enough to finish it?

Lest it happen that, after he has laid the foundation, and is unable to finish it, everyone who sees it begins to mock him,

Saying: This man began to build and could not finish.

Adverts

Or what king, when he goes to war to fight against another king, does not first sit down and take counsel as to whether with ten thousand he can meet the one who comes against him with twenty thousand?

Otherwise, while the other is still far away, he sends ambassadors and asks for conditions of peace.

Therefore, anyone of you who does not renounce everything he has cannot be my disciple..

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
