Gospel of the Day – Matthew 6:16-21

“And when you fast, do not be grieved like the hypocrites; for they disfigure their faces, so that it appears to men that they are fasting.

Adverts

Truly I say to you, they have received their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,

So that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you publicly.

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume everything, and where thieves break through and steal;

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break through or steal.

Adverts

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:16-21

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
