1 Miriam and Aaron began to criticize Moses because he had married a Cushite woman.

2 “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses? “, they asked. “Has he not also spoken through us? ” And the Lord heard it.

3 Now Moses was a very patient man, more than anyone else on earth.

4 Immediately the Lord said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam: “Go to the Tent of Meeting, you three.” And the three went there.

5 Then the Lord descended in a pillar of cloud and, standing at the entrance to the Tent, called Aaron and Miriam. The two came forward,

6 and he said: “Listen to my words: When there is a prophet of the Lord among you, I reveal myself to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams.

7 But it is not so with my servant Moses, who is faithful throughout my house.

8 I speak to him face to face, clearly, and not in riddles; and he sees the form of the Lord. Why were they not afraid to criticize my servant Moses? “

9 Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against them, and he left them.

10 When the cloud moved away from the Tent, Miriam was leprosy; its appearance was like that of snow. Aaron turned to her and saw that she had leprosy.

11 and said to Moses, “Please, my lord, do not punish us for the sin we have so foolishly committed.

12 Do not allow her to remain like an aborted fetus that comes out of its mother’s womb with half of its body destroyed.”

13 Then Moses cried out to the Lord, “O God, in mercy, heal her! “

14 The Lord answered Moses, “If her father had spat in her face, would she not have been ashamed for seven days? Let her be isolated outside the camp for seven days; then she can be brought back.”

15 Then Miriam was isolated outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not leave until she was brought back.

16 After this, they left Hazeroth and camped in the wilderness of Paran.
