 The Lord said to Moses:

“Say this to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites: This is what the Lord commanded:

Any Israelite who sacrifices an ox, a lamb or a goat inside or outside the camp,

and if he does not bring it to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting to present it as an offering to the Lord, before the tabernacle of the Lord, he will be considered guilty of blood; he has shed blood and will be cut off from among his people.

The sacrifices, which the Israelites now make in the open field, they will bring to the Lord, handing them over to the priest, to offer them to the Lord, at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, and they will sacrifice them as communion offerings.

The priest will sprinkle the blood on the altar of the Lord, at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, and will burn the fat as an aroma pleasing to the Lord.

They will no longer offer sacrifices to idols in the form of goats, which they worship immorally. This is a perpetual decree for them and their generations.

“Tell them: Every Israelite or resident alien who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice,

and does not bring it to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting to offer it to the Lord, he will be cut off from among his people.

“Every Israelite or foreign resident who eats the blood of any animal, I will set my sights on the person who ate the blood, and I will eliminate him from among his people.

For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; It is the blood that makes propitiation for life.

Therefore I say to the Israelites: none of you may eat blood, not even the resident alien.

“Any Israelite or resident alien who hunts an animal or bird that can be eaten must shed the blood and cover it with earth,

for the life of all flesh is its blood. Therefore I said to the Israelites: You may not eat the blood of any animal, for the life of all flesh is its blood; everyone who eats it will be eliminated.

“Whoever, whether a native of the land or a foreigner, eats an animal found dead or torn to pieces by wild animals, shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he shall be unclean until evening; then it will be pure.

But if he does not wash his clothes or bathe, he will suffer the consequences of his iniquity.”
