And Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the appointed time, which God had spoken to him.

And Abraham called the name of the son born to him, whom Sarah had borne him, Isaac.

And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac, when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.

And Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.

And Sarah said: God has made me laugh; everyone who hears it will laugh with me.

He said further: Who would have told Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I gave him a son in his old age.

And the child grew, and was weaned; so Abraham made a great feast on the day Isaac was weaned.

And Sarah saw that the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had given to Abraham, was mocking.

And he said unto Abraham, Put this maidservant and her son away; for the son of this servant shall not inherit with Isaac my son.

And this word seemed very evil in the eyes of Abraham, because of his son.

But God said to Abraham: Let it not be evil in your eyes concerning the lad and concerning your maidservant; in everything that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice; for in Isaac your descendants will be called.

But I will also make a nation out of the son of this servant, because he is your offspring.

Then Abraham rose early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water and gave them to Hagar, placing them on her shoulder; He also gave her the boy and sent her away; and she departed, wandering in the wilderness of Beersheba.

And when the water in the bottle was consumed, he threw the boy under one of the trees.

And he sat down in front, a bowshot away; because he said: May I not see the boy die. And he sat down opposite, and lifted up his voice, and wept.

And God heard the voice of the child, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven, and said to her, What ails you, Hagar? Do not be afraid, because God heard the boy's voice from where he was.

Rise up, lift the boy and take him by the hand, because I will make him a great nation.

And God opened his eyes, and he saw a well of water; and he went and filled the skin with water, and gave the boy a drink.

And it was God with the boy, who grew up; and he dwelt in the wilderness, and was an archer.

And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran; and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.

 And it came to pass at that time that Abimelech, with Phichol, prince of his army, spoke to Abraham, saying: God is with you in all that you do;

Now therefore, swear to me here by God, that you will not lie to me, nor to my son, nor to my grandson; according to the kindness that I have done to you, you will do to me, and to the land where you sojourned.

And Abraham said, I will swear.

But Abraham rebuked Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech's servants had taken by force.

Then said Abimelech: I know not who hath done this; and you did not make it known to me, nor did I hear it until today.

And Abraham took sheep and herds, and gave them to Abimelech; and they both made a covenant.

But Abraham set seven ewe lambs apart from the flock.

And Abimelech said unto Abraham, Why are these seven ewe lambs here, which thou hast set by themselves?

And he said, Thou shalt take these seven ewe lambs from my hand, that they may be a testimony that I dug this well.

That is why that place was called Beersheba, because they both swore there.

So they made an alliance in Beersheba. Then Abimelech and Phichol, the prince of his army, rose up and returned to the land of the Philistines.

And he planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the Lord, the eternal God.

And Abraham sojourned in the land of the Philistines many days.
