The Lord said to Moses, “Carve out two stone tablets similar to the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets that you broke.

Be ready in the morning to climb Mount Sinai. And right there, at the top of the mountain, introduce yourself to me.

No one will be able to go with you or stay anywhere on the mountain; not even sheep and oxen shall graze before the mountain.”

So Moses carved two stone tablets similar to the first ones and went up to Mount Sinai early in the morning, as the Lord had commanded him, carrying the two stone tablets in his hands.

Then the Lord descended in the cloud, remained there with him and proclaimed his name: the Lord.

And he passed before Moses, proclaiming: “Lord, Lord, God, merciful and merciful, patient, full of love and faithfulness,

who maintains his love to thousands and forgives wickedness, rebellion and sin. However, it does not fail to punish the guilty party; punishes children and grandchildren for the sin of their parents, to the third and fourth generations.”

Immediately Moses fell facedown on the ground and worshiped him, saying:

“Lord, if you truly accept me with pleasure, the Lord accompanies us. Even though these are an obstinate people, forgive our wickedness and our sin and make us your inheritance.”

“I make a covenant with you,” said the Lord. “In front of all your people I will perform wonders never performed in the presence of any other people in the world. The people among whom you dwell will see the wonderful work that I, the Lord, will do.

Obey the orders I give you today. I will drive out from before you the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites.

Be careful not to make a deal with those who live in the land you are going to, for they will become a trap.

Instead, tear down their altars, break their sacred pillars and cut down their sacred poles.

Never worship any other god, because the Lord, whose name is Zealous, is indeed a jealous God.

“Be careful not to enter into agreements with those who already live in the land; for when they prostitute themselves, following their gods and offering sacrifices to them, they will invite you and may take you to eat their sacrifices

and choose wives for their sons from among their daughters. When they prostitute themselves, following their gods, they may lead their children to prostitute themselves too.

“Don’t make metal idols for yourself.

“Celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you. Do this at the right time, in the month of Abib, because in that month you left Egypt.

“The first to be born from each womb belongs to me, all the males from the first offspring of their herds: calves, lambs and kids.

Redeem every first donkey that is born with a lamb; but if you do not rescue him, break his neck. Rescue all your firstborns. “No one comes before me empty-handed.

“Work six days, but rest on the seventh; both during plowing and harvesting times.

“Celebrate the festival of weeks, on the occasion of the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the festival of the closing of the harvest, at the end of the year.

Three times a year all the men of your people will appear before the Sovereign Lord, the God of Israel.

I will drive out nations before you and enlarge your territory. When you go up three times a year to present yourself to the Lord your God, no one will covet your land.

“Do not offer me the blood of any sacrifice mixed with anything leavened, and do not leave any leftover from the sacrifice of the Passover festival until the next morning.

“Bring the best of the firstfruits of the earth to the sanctuary of the Lord your God. “Do not cook the goat in its own mother’s milk. “

The Lord said to Moses, “Write these words; for it is in accordance with them that I make a covenant with you and with Israel.”

Moses remained there with the Lord forty days and forty nights, without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant: the Ten Commandments.

When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant in his hands, he did not know that his face shone because he had spoken with the Lord.

When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses with his shining face, they were afraid to approach him.

But he called them; Aaron and the leaders of the community responded, and Moses spoke to them.

Then all the Israelites approached, and he told them all the commandments that the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai.

When he finished speaking to them, he covered his face with a veil.

But every time she entered to be in the presence of the Lord and talk to him, she took off her veil until she left. Whenever he went out and told the Israelites everything he had been told,

they saw that his face shone. Then, Moses again covered his face with the veil until he entered again to speak with the Lord.
