Gospel of the Day – Matthew 26:14-25

“Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?”

Adverts

And they weighed him thirty pieces of silver,
And from that time on he sought an opportunity to betray him. On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying,

Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat Easter?
And he said, Go into the city to a certain man, and say unto him, The Master saith:

My time is near; I will celebrate the Passover at your house with my disciples.” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.

And when evening came, he sat down with the twelve.
And as they were eating, he said, Verily I say unto you, That one of you shall betray me.

Adverts

And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I? And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had never been born.

And Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Is it I, Rabbi? He said, Thou hast said it.“.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
