Gospel of the Day – Mark 4:26-34

“He went on to say: “The Kingdom of God is like a man who sows seed on the earth.

Night and day, whether he is asleep or awake, the seed germinates and grows, although he does not know how.

The earth itself produces the grain: first the stalk, then the ear, and then the full grain in the ear.

As soon as the grain is ripe, the man passes the sickle to it, because the harvest has arrived.”

Again he said: “To what shall we compare the Kingdom of God? What parable will we use to describe it?

It's like a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed that is planted on earth.

However, once planted, it grows to become one of the largest plants, with branches so large that the birds of the air can shelter in its shade.”

With many similar parables Jesus proclaimed the word to them, as much as they could receive.

He didn't tell them anything without using some parable. When, however, he was alone with his disciples, he explained everything to them..

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
