And a great crowd followed him, because they saw the signs that he performed on the sick.

And Jesus went up into the mountain, and sat there with his disciples.

And the Passover, the festival of the Jews, was at hand.

Then Jesus lifted up his eyes, and saw that a great multitude was coming to him, and said unto Philip, Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

But I said this to try it out; because he knew well what he had to do.

Philip answered him: Two hundred pieces of bread will not be enough for each of them to take a little.

And one of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him:

There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what is this for so many?

And Jesus said, Command the men to sit down. And there was a lot of grass in that place. So the men sat down, numbering about five thousand.

And Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those who sat down; and likewise also of the fish, as much as they wanted.

And when they were satisfied, he said to his disciples: Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with pieces of the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.

So when those men saw the miracle that Jesus had done, they said: This is truly the prophet who should come into the world.

When Jesus therefore knew that they were going to come and take him away to make him king, he withdrew again, alone, into the mountain. John 6:1-15 .

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
