Gospel of the Day – John 21:1-14

“After this Jesus appeared again to his disciples on the shore of the Sea of Tiberias. It was so:

Simon Peter was together; Thomas, called Didymus; Nathanael, from Cana in Galilee; the sons of Zebedee; and two other disciples.
“I’m going to fish,” Simão Pedro told them.

And they said, “We’re going with you.” They went and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. At dawn, Jesus was on the beach, but the disciples did not recognize him.

He asked them, “Children, do you have anything to eat? “No,” they replied. He said, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find it.”

They cast it, and were unable to collect the net, such was the number of fish. The disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter:

"And you! ” When Simon Peter heard him say this, he put on his cloak, for he had taken it off, and threw himself into the sea. The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, as they were only about ninety meters from the beach.

When they disembarked, they saw a fire there, fish on hot coals, and some bread. Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”

Simão Pedro got into the boat and dragged the net to the beach. It was full: it had one hundred and fifty-three large fish. Although there were so many fish, the net did not break.

Jesus said to them, “Come and eat.” None of the disciples had the courage to ask him: “Who are you? ” They knew it was the Lord.

Jesus approached, took the bread and gave it to them, doing the same with the fish. This was the third time that Jesus appeared to his disciples, after he rose from the dead“.
