Gospel of the Day – Matthew 8:5-17

“And as Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, begging him,
And saying: Lord, my servant lies at home, paralyzed, and violently tormented.

And Jesus said unto him, I will go and give him health.
And the centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that you should come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.

For I also am a man under authority, and I have soldiers under me; and I say to this man: Go, and he goes; and to another: Come, and he comes; and to my servant: Do this, and he does it.

And Jesus marveled when he heard this, and said to those who followed him: Truly I say to you, I have not found so much faith even in Israel.

But I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down at table with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven;

And the children of the kingdom will be cast into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Then Jesus said to the centurion: Go, and as you have believed it may be done to you. And at that very hour his servant was healed.

And Jesus, entering Peter's house, saw his mother-in-law lying in bed and suffering from a fever.
And he touched her hand, and the fever left her; and he arose and served them.

And when it was evening, they brought to him many who were demon-possessed, and he cast out the spirits from them with his word, and healed all who were sick;

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, who said: He took upon himself our infirmities, and bore our sicknesses“.
