“And when he came to the disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and some scribes disputing with them.

And immediately the whole crowd, when they saw him, were amazed, and running to him, greeted him. And he asked the scribes, “What are you arguing with them about?”

And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit:

And wherever it catches him, it tears him to pieces, and he foams and gnashes his teeth and wastes away. And I told your disciples to cast him out, and they could not.

And he answered them, and said, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.

And they brought him to him: and when he saw him, immediately the spirit convulsed him violently; and he fell to the ground, and wallowed in the foam.

And he asked his father, How long has it been since this happened to him? And he said, From childhood.

And often it has thrown him into the fire and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us.

And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
And straightway the father of the child cried out with tears, and said, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

And when Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying unto it, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

And he cried out, and convulsed him violently, and came out: and the child was as it were dead; insomuch that many said that he was dead.

But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast it out?

And he said unto them, This kind can come out by nothing, but by prayer and fasting..

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
