“Then they said to him, ‘Why do John’s disciples often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours eat and drink?’

And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?

But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast in those days.

And he told them a parable: No one sews a piece of a new garment on an old one, for the new one will tear, and the patch will not match the old one.

And no one puts new wine into old wineskins, otherwise the new wine will burst the skins, and the wine will be spilled, and the skins will be ruined.

Adverts

But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.

And no one, having drunk the old, wants the new straight away, because they say: The old is better..

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
