Gospel of the Day – Luke 2:41-51

“Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover.
And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast day.

And when they returned, after the days were ended, the child Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem; and neither Joseph nor his mother knew it.

But supposing that he would come with them on the way, they went a day's journey, and sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances:

And when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem in search of him.
And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

And all who heard him admired his intelligence and answers.
And when they saw him, they marveled, and his mother said to him,

Son, why have you treated us like this? Behold, your father and I have been anxiously seeking you.

And he said unto them, Why sought ye me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them. And his mother kept all these things in her heart..

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
