And he sought to see who Jesus was, and could not because of the crowd, because he was short of stature.

And he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, because he was going to pass that way.

And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him, and said to him, Zacchaeus, come down immediately, for today I must stay at your house.

And he hastened and came down, and received him joyfully.
And when they all saw it, they murmured, saying, He had gone in to be the guest of a man that is a sinner.

Then Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore fourfold.”

And Jesus said to him, Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
