And it came to pass, when Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, that the little child leapt in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

And she cried out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And where does this come from to me, that the mother of my Lord comes to visit me?

For behold, when the voice of your greeting reached my ears, the little child leapt for joy in my womb.

Blessed is she who believed, for the things spoken to her from the Lord will come to pass.

Then Mary said: My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;

Because he saw the baseness of his servant; For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed, Because the Mighty One has done great things for me; And holy is his name.

And his mercy is from generation to generation Upon those who fear him. With his arm he acted valiantly; He dispelled the proud in the thoughts of their hearts.

He deposed the mighty from their thrones, And elevated the humble. He filled the hungry with good things, And sent away the rich empty.

He helped his servant Israel, Remembering his mercy;
As he spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and his posterity, forever.

And Maria stayed with her almost three months, and then returned to her home.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
