Gospel of the Day – Luke 11:15-26

“But some of them said, He casts out devils by Beelzebub, prince of devils. And others, tempting him, asked him for a sign from heaven.

But when he knew their thoughts, he said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself shall be desolate; and the house, divided against itself, will fall.

And if Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For ye say that I cast out devils by Beelzebub.

And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your children cast them out? They will therefore be your judges.

But if I cast out demons by the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come to you. When a brave man guards his house, armed, everything he has is safe;

But when another more valiant than he comes and overcomes him, he takes away all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils.

Whoever is not with me is against me; and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest; and when he did not find him, he said: I will return to my house, from whence I came.

And when he arrived, he found it swept and adorned.

Then he goes, and takes with him seven other spirits worse than himself, and entering, they dwell there; and this man's last state is worse than his first.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
