Gospel of the Day – Luke 10:17-24

“And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

And he said unto them, I saw Satan fall as lightning from heaven.
Behold, I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

But do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

At that very hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said:

I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Even so, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

All things have been delivered by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

And turning to the disciples, he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.”

For I tell you that many prophets and kings longed to see what you see, and did not see it; and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it..

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
