“Many therefore of his disciples, when they heard it, said, This saying is hard; who can hear it?

Jesus therefore knowing in himself that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them: Does this offend you?

What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before?
It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

But there are some of you who do not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.

And he said: Therefore I told you that no one can come to me unless it has been granted to him by my Father.

From that time many of his disciples went back and no longer walked with him.

Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”
Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words for the eternal life.

And we have believed and known that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
