Gospel of the Day – Luke 12:22-30

“And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about your body, what you will put on.

Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.

Consider the ravens, which neither sow nor reap, nor have storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them: of how much more value are you than the birds?

And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his stature? If then you cannot do even the least thing, why do you worry about the rest?

Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was arrayed like one of these.

But if God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Therefore do not ask what you will eat or what you will drink, and do not be anxious.

For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need them..

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
