Gospel of the Day – John 14:1-12

“Do not let your heart be troubled; If you believe in God, believe in me too.
In my Father's house there are many mansions; If it weren't so, I would have told you. I will prepare a place for you.

And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also.

Even you know where I am going, and you know the way. Thomas said to him: Lord, we do not know where you are going; and how can we know the way?

Jesus said to him: I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.

If you knew me, you would also know my Father; and from now on you know him and have seen him. Philip said to him: Lord, show us the Father, what is enough for us.

Jesus said to him: I have been with you so long, and have you not known me, Philip? Whoever sees me sees the Father; and how sayest thou: Show us the Father?

Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak of myself, but the Father, who is in me, is the one who does the works.

Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; believe me, at least, because of the same works.

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do, and will do greater works than these, because I go to my Father.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through believing in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10;17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
