So he began teaching them many things. It was getting late, so the disciples came to him and said, \u00abThis is a remote place, and it\u2019s already late. Send the people away so they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.\u00bb But he replied, \u00abYou give them something to eat.\u00bb They asked him, \u00abAre we to go and spend two hundred denarii on bread and give it to all these people to eat?\u00bb \u00abHow many loaves do you have?\u00bb he asked. \u00abGo and see.\u00bb They went and saw and said, \u201cFive\u2014and two fish.\u201d.<\/p>\n

Then Jesus told them to sit down in groups on the green grass to eat. They all sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. Then Jesus took the five loaves and the two fish, looked up to heaven, gave thanks, broke the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to distribute. He also divided the two fish among them all. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish.
