Gospel of the Day – Matthew 6:26-34

“Look at the birds of the air, which neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you much more valuable than them?

And which of you can, by all his care, add one cubit to his stature?

And as for clothing, why are you careful? Look at the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither work nor spin;

And I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these.

For if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Adverts

Therefore be not anxious, saying, What shall we eat, or what shall we drink, or what shall we clothe ourselves with?

For all these things the Gentiles seek. Surely your heavenly Father knows well that you need all these things;

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will take care of itself. Your evil is enough every day.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
