Gospel of the Day – John 16:23-33

“And on that day you will ask me nothing. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask my Father in my name, he will give it to you.

Until now you have asked nothing in my name; Ask, and you will receive, so that your joy may be fulfilled.

I told you this in parables; But the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in parables, but will speak openly to you about the Father.

In that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father for you; For the Father himself loves you, just as you loved me and believed that I came from God.

I came out of the Father, and came into the world; Again I leave the world, and go to the Father. His disciples said unto him, Behold, now thou speakest openly, and speakest no parable.

Now we know that you know everything, and you don't need anyone to question you. That is why we believe that you came from God. Jesus answered them: Do you now believe?

Behold, the time is coming, and it is approaching, when you will be scattered, each one to his own place, and you will leave me alone; but I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

I have told you this, so that in me you may have peace; in the world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
