The crazy women, taking their lamps, took no oil with them.
But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

And when the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and fell asleep.
But at midnight a cry was heard: Here comes the bridegroom, go out to meet him.

Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil, for our lamps are going out.

But the wise answered, saying, Lest we and you lack it, go rather to those who sell it, and buy it for yourselves.

And when they had gone to buy it, the bridegroom arrived, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding, and the door was shut.

And afterward the other virgins also came, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. And he answering said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

Watch therefore, for you do not know the day or the hour in which the Son of Man comes..

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
