Therefore whatever things they tell you to observe, observe them and do them; but do not act according to their works, for they say and do not do;

For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; They, however, do not even want to move them with their finger;

And they do all works in order to be seen by men; for they have wide phylacteries, and enlarge the fringes of their garments,

And they love the first places at suppers and the first seats in the synagogues,
And the greetings in the squares, and being called by men; Rabbi, Rabbi.

You, however, do not want to be called Rabbi, because one is your Master, namely the Christ, and you are all brothers.

And call no one on earth your father, for one is your Father, who is in heaven.

Do not even call yourselves teachers, because one is your Master, who is Christ.
The greatest among you will be your servant.

And whoever exalts himself will be humbled; and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
