Gospel of the Day – Matthew 13:10-17

“And the disciples came unto him, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

Adverts

He answered and said unto them, For unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but unto them it is not given;

For to him who has, will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.

Therefore I speak to you in parables; for they, seeing, do not see; and when they hear, they neither hear nor understand.

And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: Hearing you will hear, but you will not understand, and seeing you will see, but you will not understand.

For the heart of this people is hardened,And they have heard grudgingly with their ears,And they have closed their eyes;

So that they do not see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and convert, and I heal them.

But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.

For truly I say to you, many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it; and hear what you hear, and have not heard.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
