Gospel of the Day – Mark 4:26-34

“And he said: The kingdom of God is as if a man sowed seed on the ground.

Adverts

And he slept, and rose by night or by day, and the seed sprouted and grew, he did not know how.

For the earth bears fruit by itself, first the blade, then the ear, last the full grain in the ear.

And when the fruit is already visible, he immediately puts the sickle into it, because the harvest has arrived.

And he said: To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what parable shall we represent it?

Adverts

It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown on the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds that are on the ground;

But, having been sown, it grows; and it becomes the greatest of all vegetables, and creates great branches, so that the birds of the air can nest under its shade.

And he spoke to them with many such parables, according to what they could understand.

And without parables he never spoke to them; However, he declared everything in private to his disciples.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
