“And again he began to teach by the sea, and a great crowd gathered around him, so that he went in and sat in a boat on the sea; and the whole multitude was on land by the sea.

And he taught them many things in parables, and said to them in his doctrine: Hear: Behold, the sower went out to sow.

And it came to pass, as he sowed, that some of the seed fell by the wayside, and the birds of the air came and ate it up;

And another fell on rocky ground, where there was not much earth, and was born immediately, because it had no deep earth;

But when the sun came out, he was burned; and because it had no root, it dried up.
And another fell among thorns, and when the thorns grew, they choked it, and it bore no fruit.

And another fell on good ground and bore fruit, which flourished and increased; and one produced thirty, another sixty, and another a hundred.

And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
And when he was alone, those who were with him and the twelve asked him about the parable.

And he said unto them, To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without all these things are spoken in parables,

So that when they see, they may see, and not perceive; and when you hear, hear, and do not understand; so that they do not convert, and their sins are forgiven.

And he said unto them, Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables? He who sows, sows the word;

And those who are along the path are those in whom the word is sown; but when they have heard it, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.

And likewise those who receive seed on stony ground; who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with pleasure;

But they have no root in themselves, but are early; then, when tribulation or persecution comes, because of the word, they immediately fall away.

And others are those who receive the seed among thorns, who hear the word;

But the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires of other things, enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

And these are they which were sown on the good ground, which hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred..

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
