Gospel of the Day – Luke 4:38-44

“Jesus left the synagogue and went to Simon's house. Simon's mother-in-law had a high fever, and they asked Jesus to do something for her.

As he stood over her, he leaned over and rebuked the fever, which left her. She got up immediately and began to serve them.

At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all those who had various types of illnesses; and he healed them, laying his hands on each of them.

Furthermore, demons came out of many people shouting: “You are the Son of God! ” But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.

At daybreak, Jesus went to a lonely place. The crowds were looking for him, and when they reached where he was, they insisted that he not leave them.

But he said, “I must preach the good news of the Kingdom of God in other cities as well, because for this I was sent.”
And he continued preaching in the synagogues of Judea

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
