Saying: Master, Moses wrote to us that if a man's brother dies, having a wife, and leaving no children, his brother must take his wife, and raise up posterity for his brother.

But those who are considered worthy of attaining the world to come, and the resurrection from the dead, shall neither marry nor be given in marriage;

Because they can no longer die; for they are equal to angels, and are children of God, being children of the resurrection.

And that the dead will rise again, Moses also showed at the bush, when he called the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

Now God is not the God of the dead, but of the living; because everyone lives for him.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
