“For this is also like a man who, going out of the land, called his servants, and gave them his possessions.

And to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his ability, and immediately he went far away.

And when he had departed, he that had received five talents traded with them, and got five more talents.

In the same way, the one who had received two also got two others. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money.

And after a long time the lord of those servants came and reckoned with them.

Then he who had received five talents came and brought him five more talents, saying, Lord, you gave me five talents; Here are five other talents that I gained from them.

And his master said to him: Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things; enter into the joy of your lord.

And when he also that had received two talents came, he said, Lord, thou hast given me two talents; behold, with them I gained two other talents.

His master said to him: Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things; enter into the joy of your lord.

But he who had received one talent also came and said, Lord, I knew you, that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter;

And in fear I hid your talent in the ground; here you have what is yours.
But his master answered and said unto him, A bad and negligent servant; Did you know that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I did not scatter?

You should then have given my money to the bankers and when I came I would have received mine with interest. Therefore take away his talent, and give it to him who has the ten talents.

For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance; But whoever does not have even what he has will be taken away.

Cast therefore the unprofitable servant into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
