And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers into his harvest.

They go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Do not take a purse, travel bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone along the way.

“When you enter a house, first say: 'Peace to this house.'
If there is a man of peace there, your peace will rest upon him; if not, it will come back to you.

Stay in that house, and eat and drink what you give them, because the worker deserves his salary. Don't keep moving from house to house.

“When you enter a city and are welcomed, eat what is set before you.

Heal the sick who are there and tell them: 'The Kingdom of God is near to you'.

But when you enter a city and are not welcomed, go out into its streets and say:

'Even the dust of your city, which clings to our feet, we shake off against you. Be assured of this: The Kingdom of God is at hand.'

I tell you: In that day there will be more tolerance for Sodom than for that city.

The Importance of the Gospel of the Day

As Christians, we place a high value on God’s Word. It is through belief in the Word of God that we are saved (Rm 10:17). The Word of God then becomes our guide for life in all circumstances, whether in employment, in social life or even in the family circle. Our aspiration should be to live by the Word of God.
